SHENGYOU, China Just-released video shows a riot in a Chinese village over the weekend.
The tape shows hundreds of Chinese men with guns, clubs, and poles attacking farmers living in a shantytown.Chinese newspapers report it happened in the village of Shengyou (shung-YOO), about 60 miles southwest of the capital, Beijing.The reports say between 200 and 300 men arrived before dawn on Saturday wearing camouflage gear and hardhats, then started attacking shantytown residents.Video of the riot came from The Washington Post, which says one of the farmers recorded the footage.The paper says the riot was over a land dispute.State media in China says the fighting left six people dead and 48 wounded.
